Back from my week in London looking at gulls, it was a nice change to be back at Hesketh with a mix of waders.
The water is still too high – Looks like Martin Mere is the only place in the area with good mud edges, well done Andy on the LBD, it looks like a cracker!
Avocet, 30+ Dunlin, same Ringo, 10+ Greenshank, 2 Spotted Red, 4 juv Ruff amongst the usuals. Highlight was a Turnstone – still rare here, but certainly becoming more regular.
Supporting cast of GWE, big dark juv Peregrine, Marsh Harrier, multiple Yellow Wags, Willow Warbler and Wheatear.
Good to be back, but hope this weather burns some of that water off quickly…….
