The Million Ponds Project will create an extensive network of new ponds across the UK. Ultimately the aim is to reverse a century of pond loss, ensuring that once again the UK has over one million countryside ponds.

The Forest of Bowland AONB Sustainable Development Fund is a grant scheme which supports projects that bring, environmental, social and economic benefits to the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Environmental Stewardship scheme (Government Funding for land management)

The primary objectives of Environmental Stewardship are to:

  • conserve wildlife (biodiversity)
  • maintain and enhance landscape quality and character
  • protect the historic environment and natural resources
  • promote public access and understanding of the countryside
  • protect natural resources.

The English Woodland Grant Scheme (EWGS) is the Forestry Commission's suite of grants designed to develop the co-ordinated delivery of public benefits from England's woodlands.

Bowland Tourism & Environment Fund

The BTEF is a visitor payback scheme operating within the Forest of Bowland AONB. All donations directly fund environmental projects within the AONB. The initiative enables tourism businesses, visitors and local communities to work together to benefit and protect the AONB.
